  • STUMP GRINDING

Removing a tree stump is the final part of the tree’s removal. Stumps can pose a hazard or obstruct depending on their location, and grinding the stump out is a fast and cost-efficient process to remove remaining stumps from above the ground.

Stump grinding removes the root system and we will use our effective machinery to grind remaining stumps to woodchip - taking them to slightly below ground levelYou can then reuse the area to replant or for a lawn or footpath with relatively little backfilling to be done.

  • HEDGE TRIMMING & CUTTING

Well–maintained hedges add beauty and structure to any garden, which can take a lot of work and effort. Our team can keep your hedges looking neat, uniform, and healthy with regular trimming and shaping services.

Whether looking for support with keeping your garden looking beautiful year-round or you’d like to ensure height and health is maintained, Meristem is skilled in all areas of hedge trimming and cutting.

  • CROWN LIFTING, REDUCING & SHAPING

Crown lifting involves removing the lowest branches of a tree to raise the height of its canopy, creating clearance for people, vehicles, and structures. It helps more light and air to reach the ground, and improves views.

Meristem is experienced in crown lifting, pruning and trimming for a variety of trees, and can carry out essential site safety management throughout the process, keeping risk of hazard low.

  • there are many signs to look out for when assessing if a tree needs to be removed. This is a questions we often get asked and we usually tell our clients to look out for three key signs:

    1. Check leaves and bark in full growing season - a tree without leaves or that has peeling bark could mean that it is dead or dying.

    2. Check for leaning or movement. Sudden and significant leaning or shifting from its upright position could mean it is unstable.

    3. Check for disease, decay or damage - hollow trunk, dying branches, or fungal growth could mean the tree’s structure is weakening and becoming unsafe.

If you’d like to talk to the Meristem team about a tree or trees you think might need professional removal, we’re happy to offer guidance and provide a quote.

  • A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is a legal safeguard for trees with significant amenity value. They are issued by local planning authorities and prevent unauthorised activities like cutting, topping, or damage to protected trees.

If you are a property owner, you must obtain permission before undertaking any work on such trees. Violating a TPO can lead to legal consequences and fines, emphasising the need for responsible tree management and conservation efforts.
